What could really make the difference between passing or failing your CIMA exams?
We asked our latest batch of prizewinners to share their top tips for exam success. Their responses were remarkably consistent: 'Practice, practice, practice' was the firm message that came back.
It's much easier now
They all confirmed that practising past questions under timed exam conditions, and then checking the answer against the CIMA published answer as well as the examiners' comments in the post exam guides can really make a difference.
That will be much easier now that CIMA is making past questions and model answers available free online. So download your Q&As and start practising today.
The majority of top scorers in the May exams all used articles in Study Notes and Financial Management, and the Q&As and PEGs as part of their study and revision plans.
With the extra model answers now in Velocity, worked Q&As linked to Study Notes, and a comprehensive archive of past articles from Study Notes, we're pulling out all the stops to support you in your studies.
Learn your verbs
Remember, too, to make use of the 'CIMA verbs.' A number of successful students said that a thorough understanding of these verbs underpinned their success. So have a look at our detailed article on using the verbs (PDF 130KB) that was written by one of the examiners.
Finally, when asked about their particular approach to study, a number of students found identifying and using their own individual learning style was really helpful. So check out the article about learning styles in this issue of Velocity. There will be a further one next month.
