Important November exam information

October 2008

November 2008 exam dates

The dates for exams this November are:

  • Tuesday 18 November
  • Wednesday 19 November
  • Thursday 20 November.

Cancellations and changes

CIMA does not accept cancellations and will not refund fees.

The closing date for requesting changes to papers or exam centres was 22 September. In exceptional circumstances, we will consider very late amendments after that, but we cannot guarantee amendments at this stage. The very late amendment fee is £78.

Admission advice letters

If you entered the exams online, you must print off your admission advice online. You can do this from 16 October 2008.

You must take the admission advice with you to the exams, and keep it safely afterwards, as it includes your candidate numbers. The admission advice shows the exact details of your exam centre, as well as the exams for which you are entered.

Exam rules

You must download and read the exam rules from the website when you download your admission advice.

Another form of identification

As well as your admission advice, you will need to bring another means of identification to the exam hall such as a passport or driving licence, showing your photograph, name and signature.

Attendance slips

You must complete attendance slips before starting each exam. The attendance slip has a tear-off section which you should take away and keep. This will be your receipt of attendance of the exam and is valid for four months from the date of the exam.

TOPCIMA case study pre seen material

The November 2008 TOPCIMA pre seen material and assessment matrix is available to download now.

Please note that you are responsible for downloading this material, and analysing and familiarising yourself with it before the exam.

Articles analysing the material are also available to help you prepare for the exam.

A clean copy of the pre seen material and the assessment matrix will be given to you in the exam. You can't take any notes into the exam.

Question papers

You cannot take question papers out of the exam hall. The November papers will be available immediately after the exams.

Your exam results

The results from the November exams will be sent out at the end of January 2009. You can register to receive your results by email in your MY CIMA account.

Managerial level assessment changes

Since the May 2007 exams, the following three Managerial level papers have new section weightings:

  • P1 Management Accounting Performance Evaluation
  • P4 Organisational Management and Information Systems
  • P7 Financial Accounting and Tax Principles

The new section weightings are:

  • Section A - 40 marks
  • Section B - 30 marks
  • Section C - 30 marks

Important: answerbook note for Managerial level candidates

To all Managerial level candidates: the answers to all questions must be written in your answer book. This includes all Section A objective test sub-questions.

If you draft responses in the question paper, these should be transferred to the answer book before the end of the examination. It is assumed that all writings in the question paper are candidates' notes. They will therefore not to be considered by the marker.

See our guidance article answering Section A questions. (PDF 120KB)

Certificate level computer based assessments

Please see our Certificate level computer based assessment page for full information about entering for these assessments.
