Exams

The main global exam sittings are in May and November each year.

A limited number of places are available, in certain countries, for T4 part B and resit students to sit exams in March and September.

Certificate in business accounting papers are examined separately through a computer based assessment scheme.

Exam results information for November 2011 paper based exams
Results for all paper based exams were sent out by first class post, airmail or email on Thursday 12 January 2012.

You must have registered online through 'MY CIMA' and 'My communication preferences' before Thursday 5 January 2012 to have received your results by email.

How to enter
You can check which papers you are eligible to sit here. Do not enter exams until you have received your results from the previous session.

All eligible students may enter for paper based exams in May and November.

 
To resit exams in March or September (where available), students must have previously sat or been absent from the paper.

T4 students have the option to sit their exam on PC in March, May, September and November (where available), and on paper in May and November.

You may only enter exams at one exam centre.

Paper based exams         PC and March/September resit exams
Entry Exam entries are made through your MY CIMA account. Please read the instructions for exam entry (PDF 154KB) and online user guide before entering. Contact an exam centre (see 'Where' tab). Your exam centre will provide you with an entry form and process your entry. Please note that availability is limited and you may be required to register for a tuition course.
Payment Payment is made by credit or debit card through MY CIMA as part of the entry process.
Students outside the UK and ROI may choose to pay by bankers draft.
The exam entry fee must be paid directly to CIMA before the payment deadline (you can pre pay your account at any time) by logging into MY CIMA and accessing 'My financials' and 'Settle my account'.
Acceptance of exam rules By entering the exam you are agreeing to abide by CIMA's exam rules and regulations (PDF 72KB). By entering the exam you are agreeing to abide by CIMA's exam rules and regulations for paper based (PDF 72KB) or PC exams (PDF 35KB).
Confirmation By email, within 24 hours. If you do not receive this, check your exam entry in MY CIMA. By email, within 48 hours. If you do not receive this, contact your exam centre.

Special needs CIMA welcomes entries from students with disabilities or special needs and is able to provide additional help or concessions, such as extra exam time, as appropriate to individual needs.

PC or paper based? 
The T4 part B examination is available on PC in March, May, September and November, and on paper in May and November.

Quarantine guidelines (PC and resit exams)

For centres running morning and afternoon sessions for the same paper:

  • morning candidates will be supervised by a member of centre staff for a period of 50 minutes after the morning exam has ended.
  • afternoon candidates must arrive 50 minutes before the exam commences, and will be supervised by a member of staff before they are permitted into the exam room.
  • mobile phones must be switched off
  • candidates will not have internet or email access
  • candidates taking toilet or smoking breaks should be accompanied by a member of centre staff
  • tuition providers should supply candidates with information regarding quarantining arrangements for each centre.

Feedback after the exam
We run a special feedback inbox during and immediately after each exam sitting. You can use this to give us feedback about the exam papers and our exam venues for two weeks after the exams finish.

Exam results
Exam results are sent out by first class post or airmail to your current address in MY CIMA. To also receive your results by email, update your communication preferences in MY CIMA. 

Please note that students sitting exams in March or September have a limited period, following results day, to enter for the next paper-based exams without a late entry fee.

Exam review services
The question breakdown summary on your results letter will show the number of marks awarded by the exam marker for each question attempted.

CIMA's administrative review (a service to recall and re-check your script) and script review services are also available.
