These extremely successful two day CPD academies are now in their fifth academic year. Developed by CIMA's centre of excellence, the programme has been redesigned to help finance professionals maximise their CPD learning in a convenient and cost effective format.

Speaker Details

Gillian Butler is a graduate of the Dundee Institute of Technology and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Her previous career was with Coopers and Lybrand, before becoming a lecturer in higher education and a consultant. She joined CIMA in October 2006 as learning and development specialist based in CIMA’s Professional Development Products and Services Department.

Tanya Barman is the Head of Ethics at CIMA. Tanya is responsible for CIMA’s ethics and the business policy strategy and programme for its members and students. Prior roles have included a focus on responsible business, anti-corruption and organisation development in both commercial and non-profit organisations in UK, USA, South Africa and South Asia. She has an academic background in International Relations and Development and is CIPD qualified.
 
Clare Haynes, Wildfire holds a degree in psychology and a post-graduate diploma in marketing and diplomas in performance, neuro-linguistic programming and coaching. Her career spans television, sport, charity and the social sectors. Working on organisation restructuring and start-ups, Clare has worked broadly in team development and in helping directors and CEOs achieve success. Clare specialises in helping people in developing their talent!

Nigel Iyer BSc, MA, ACA is a partner in the Septia Group. After obtaining his university degree in 1985 and subsequently qualifying as a UK chartered accountant, Nigel worked passionately for over 20 years within the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and corruption. 

In recent years he has specialised in helping international organisations develop strategies to ensure that ethics are fully integrated into the strategy from the top down.  He played a central role in developing the integrity health check, which is used by many organisations to ensure that ethical policies are on track as well as detect the red flags of fraud and corruption as early as possible. 

Richard Mallett gained a degree in economics from Nottingham University. He joined Boots as an economist in 1979. In 1986 he joined the Sainsbury’s group as a financial analyst and qualified as a chartered management accountant. He is also a fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Richard was appointed technical director of CIMA in 2001 with responsibility for maintaining and enhancing CIMA’s authority in management accounting and related business areas such as financial reporting, corporate governance and sustainability. Richard engaged extensively with the wider accountancy profession and, from 2001 to 2009, was technical adviser to the UK member of the professional accountants business committee of the International Federation of Accountants.

He has recently completed six months of freelance consultancy with Intangible Business, the specialist brand valuation consultancy.

Eileen Roddy is the Head of Partnerships and Registrations and located within the education directorate. She previously worked as a principal lecturer in higher education, a development manager in the national brewery sector and a consultant to high growth SMEs. Eileen was educated at Manchester University and Manchester Business School.

Peter Simons BBS (Hons), MBA, ACMA, CGMA
Peter Simons' CIMA qualification enabled him to achieve career progression through roles in strategy, corporate lending, credit management and marketing at Bank of Ireland to become a member of their senior management team in London. Peter then worked for four years as the Managing Director of a small, 50 employee business before joining CIMA as a technical specialist in 2006.

Peter is now a research and development specialist on CIMA’s education team where he explores the future of the finance function and developments in performance management so as contribute to the development of the CIMA syllabus. Business School.
