CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) has hosted The Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) at its Central London Headquarters.
The three day meeting from Monday 3 April 2006 was chaired by Bill Connell, PAIB Chair and CIMA Member. Speaking after the meeting he said:
“The importance of professional accountants in business was again emphasised by Graham Ward, IFAC President who addressed the meeting on day two. The PAIB Committee reviewed the implementation plan for the new web-based information system being developed by IFAC, considered topics to develop in its 'principles-based good practice guidance and agreed three year action plans for sustainability and internal controls. The Committee also discussed how to leverage 'Enterprise Governance - Getting the Balance Right' in the important area of governance. All in all it made for a packed agenda.”
The PAIB Committee serves IFAC member bodies and professional accountants who work in commerce, industry, the public sector, education, and the not-for-profit sector. Its aim is to enhance the profession by encouraging and facilitating the global development and exchange of knowledge and best practices. It also works to build public awareness of the value of professional accountants.
